Croatia for sailing on the Adriatic Sea

Weather Conditions

The sailing season at the Adriatic Sea starts in April and lasts till October, but we may have a good sail also in March and November.

Weather and wind conditions

During this period of time everything may occur from the storm-sailing to the windless days and the sea is getting warmer and warmer. Before July and after September the speed of the wind is usually 2-6 bft. Dead-calm is common in the heat waves in August, at best the coastal wind or the breeze from the sea may bring some relief. The principal winds of the Adriatic are: the bora arriving from north-east, has a polar origin, is a cold and immediately strong wind; the jugo is a warm wind from the south, getting stronger during the days; and the maestral blows from north-west. According to local observations the bora comes always after the jugo.

Adriatic Challenge Becomes the Official Dealer of Bavaria Sailing YachtsBavaria Yachtbau, the world’s second largest Yacht manufacturer, has chosen Adriatic Challenge as the  official dealer of Bavaria sailing yachts in Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Albania.  The recent take over of Bavaria by one of the world’s leading private equity investors Bain Capital GmbH, has lead to a new direction in the way the company will sell, and provide after sales service for their sailing yachts.

“First we will target the Croatian market, and later on, focus on the other countries in the region”, said Robert Lang, owner of Adriatic Challenge.  He began the company in 2005 by acquiring a fleet of 20 Bavaria 42 match boats, establishing the world’s top one design charter race fleet.

Adriatic Challenge plans to stock new models at its base in Biograd, offering the opportunity for customers to try a vessel, and sail away as their new owner if satisfied.
